Getting pretty close. I still need to polish my boots, get a haircut, shave and pick up my spare socks from Tripp. We’re going to get Denaro to drop us off tomorrow night in sourthern VT. I’m going to drive the left over food out to Andrew Ziehl’s tonight and leave it with him – he’s agreed to meet us at the summit of Killington for our first resupply. Things are shapin’ up…

Packing and Planning
We did a final round of planning and packed up our bags for the first leg of the trip. The first resupply will be at Churchill Scott Hut on day seven. The second resupply will be on day fourteen at Mt. Mansfield. We loaded up our packs for the first leg and they each weighed in around 60 lbs. Thankfully they will be getting progressively lighter, even considering considering resupply points; we are carrying most of the staples the whole way just to be safe. Photographic coming soon…
More Gear
I picked up a bunch more gear today.
– Sunscreen/bug repellent combo
– An additional solar panel
– New shades (my old ones snapped in half as I was taking them off the other day…)
– Biodegradable soap
– An extra Nalgene
– Tooth brush covers
– Cooking fuel
– Hand sanitizer
That’s about it…
Soon we’ll be mixing the rest of the trail mix, and shipping off the food to our resupply locations some how. I also need to do a bunch of maintenance on my boots and water filter before the end of the week.

First Post!
Hi all,
- for starters I’m trying to get my domain name to point at blogger – hopefully this works out…
- i’ll be trying to use Google Latitude to track my position in real-time (or as close to it as cell coverage and battery life permits)
- I’ll be using a solar charger to charge my Android phone for the 18 days we expect to be gone – I need to get a feel for how much energy it can soak up during an average day and how much energy I can afford to spend each day taking photos, videos, etc…
- and finally I need to figure out how best to upload my MyTracks data and post it to this blog
